The ceremony, originally scheduled for September 10, has been moved to September 11 to avoid conflicting with the U.S. presidential debate. This year’s event will also honor the 23rd anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks by supporting nonprofits 9/11 Day and Tuesday’s Children.

Each of the artists performing at New York's UBS Arena is also a nominee. Sabrina Carpenter, fresh off the release of her new singles “Please Please Please” and “Espresso,” is among the top contenders with six nominations, including Artist of the Year. Carpenter is set to drop her sixth album, *Short n' Sweet*, just ahead of the awards on August 23.

GloRilla and Rauw Alejandro are also strong contenders, each earning three nominations. GloRilla’s nominations include Best Hip-Hop, Best Collaboration, and MTV Push Performance of the Year, while Alejandro is in the running for Best Latin, Best Cinematography, and Best Choreography for his hit "Touching the Sky."

Chappell Roan, another highly anticipated performer, is nominated for two awards, including Best New Artist. Camila Cabello, who released her album *C, XOXO* in June, is vying for Best Pop.

Taylor Swift leads the nominations with ten nods following the release of her album *The Tortured Poets Department.* Post Malone, who collaborated with Swift on the single "Fortnight," follows with nine nominations. If Swift wins Video of the Year for "Fortnight," she could become the first artist to win the category three years in a row and earn her fifth overall win in this category.

The 2024 MTV VMAs will be broadcast live from the UBS Arena on Wednesday, September 11, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
