Sweden is set to create history by officially recognizing sex as a sport through the inaugural European Sex Championship. While many cultures consider sex to be a private matter, Sweden has taken a different approach by embracing it as a physical activity. The championship, organized by the Swedish Federation of Sex, will showcase the skills and chemistry between participating couples.
Scheduled to commence on June 8, 2023, the European Sex Championship will span several weeks, with participants engaging in six hours of competition each day. Each match or activity will be allotted approximately 45 minutes to one hour.
This championship celebrates diversity and welcomes competitors of all genders and sexual orientations. The organizers believe that sexual orientation can play a strategic role in this sport and anticipate other European countries adopting a similar approach in the future.
The championship has already received applications from 20 participants representing various countries. Winners will be determined through a combination of audience ratings and evaluations from three panels of judges. The audience vote will hold a 70% weightage, while the remaining 30% will come from the judges' scores.
The European Sex Championship will feature 16 disciplines, including seduction, oral sex, penetration, appearance, and more. Its aim is to celebrate the art of physical intimacy and promote open discussions about sex as a form of sport.
Dragan Bratych, the chairman of the Swedish Sex Association, believes that recognizing sex as a sport was an inevitable step. He highlights the importance of training to achieve desired results in sexual activity, likening it to any other sport. Bratych emphasizes that sex as a sport focuses on maximizing pleasure for all participants, with success measured by one's ability to satisfy their partner.
According to the Swedish Sex Association, sex as a sport requires creativity, emotional intelligence, imagination, physical fitness, endurance, and work capacity from the participants.
The association's president also mentions that the competition rules will evolve over time based on observations and requirements. While this is the first event, they plan to update and modernize the championship on an annual basis.
The European Sex Championship, featuring representatives from 20 different European countries, will take place near Gothenburg starting on June 8, 2023.
