Renowned veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah recently voiced his disappointment with the state of Hindi cinema at an event, emphasizing the need for substantial filmmaking over commercial pursuits.

Speaking at the gathering, the "A Wednesday" actor shared his candid views, suggesting that Hindi cinema's evolution hinges on filmmakers prioritizing artistic integrity over financial gains.

As reported by PTI, Shah expressed concern over the stagnation in Hindi cinema, noting the prevalence of repetitive narratives and a lack of innovation. He remarked that despite the industry's century-old legacy, filmmakers continue to churn out formulaic movies, perpetuating a cycle of monotony.

Shah, who is set to appear in Disney Plus Hotstar’s "Showtime," revealed his disillusionment with contemporary Hindi films, stating that he has ceased watching them altogether. He underscored his disappointment with the prevailing cinematic landscape, questioning the industry's pride in its longevity while failing to push creative boundaries.

The actor lamented the dearth of substance in mainstream Hindi films, cautioning that audiences may soon tire of the repetitive content. Shah urged filmmakers to adopt a more nuanced approach, emphasizing the importance of reflecting contemporary realities without fear of reprisal.
